Some friends and I went here for lunch when we were on Martha's Vineyard. Overall, it was decent. The food was rather bland, and the margaritas were sub par. (My boyfriend insisted his tasted like "dirt.") The rice was not authentic and tasted frozen or something. I didn't particularly mind the food and they had a lot of vegetarian options, which we loved. It was somewhat overpriced for what it was, though. If I were in the area again, I would maybe give it another shot.

Food is below Mexican restaurant chain standards. "Grilled" chicken reheated and rubbery, tortilla also of the rubbery texture. Burrito warm on one side and cold on the other. Chips very greasy. Would not recommend.

Small casual place. The best fish tacos ever!

Heyooooo nachoooo! We came here for some late night munchies, and ordered the large nachos. Our server looked wide-eyed and wanted to make sure we weren't ordering any more food for our group of 4. When the nachos came out, I could see why. The plate was stacked HIGH, chips overflowing with cheese and mounds of tasty salsa on top, with beans smashed in between. The cheese to chip ratio (or CCR, one of the most important quality indicators of the nacho) was immense. So much going on in the center, that there was barely enough time to mess with the guac and sour cream on the side. They also have a nice waitlist system arranged, where they will text you when your table is ready. Better than carrying around a buzzer!

When you have a craving for Tex-Mexy comfort foods, and a solid mojito (done right, with a piece of sugar cane), this is the place for you!

Great place for kids and people with nut allergies. My sons loved the shark decorations and the shark toys the restaurant gave them to keep!

Great spot for a some nachos/chips and salsa as well as A few Dos Equis ambers. Huge Menu, but nothing amazing. It gets quite Warm in the summer. Didn't seem like there was any AC. Great spot for a few beers and nachos waiting for the ferry back to mainland.

great prices and great service. i ordered the nachos and it was a very generous portion for only 12 dollars. it was also very delicious as well, our server james was very attentive and always trying to make sure we were okay, very friendly and professional, my friends burger was not well cooked but they replaced it and gave him a new one and besides that gave him a 5 dollar coupon because of the wait, there was also a 15% off of one of the appetizers, overall a great place and i recommend it to anyone

I am sorry, we used to love Sharky's, but no more. Our last visit was very disappointing. My daughter's enchiladas was just a cheese bath. The waiter pushed sides and premium liquor ($16.50 for a frozen pomegranate margarita!). The chicken strips were made with processed chicken. We were very disappointed. We have been there many times before, but never again.

Stopped in here for an early lunch a few weeks ago. Even though only one person was working he was able to serve all of us and knew we had to make it to our 1:15 ferry. Great service. We got coconut shrimp and wings to start which were both very good. Then I got a quesadilla with guacamole for lunch. Everything tasted really fresh. The portion sizes are very generous, but definitely manageable if you're hungry. Only thing I found odd was that the restrooms are not attached to the restaurant. If I'm ever on the island again I'll be sure to check out the drink menu as well because from what I hear it's excellent.

I had a bad experience at a bar close by so we came to sharkys afterwards. Absolutely amazing! Food, drinks and service were great. Defenetly will come back here. I only gave them 4 stars because they have to invest time and money in their bathrooms. I know they probably can't do anything about having them off premises, but keeping them clean and a fresh coat of paint shouldn't be that difficult to do.

Nice selection, good food at a decent price. The taco salad was very tasty. My whole family enjoyed the meal. Good, attentive wait staff. We would return.

I'm always down for Mexican and especially when it involves Tequila.. While the Vineyard is not Cozumel Sharky's does a good job with promoting a laid back casual atmosphere.. First off the menu is Mexican themed not entirely your traditional Tex Mex or South of the border fare. They also have great American classics as well to choose from. The bar had a decent tequila selection best that I know of on the island and while I am not yet a connoisseur. I definitely enjoyed choosing from an array of Anejo's served neat to sip along with an Ice Cold Corona Light. Marguerite our very hospitable bartender was delightful and made our time at Sharky's ever more enjoyable.. The space is a little tight so in high season you may want to show up early evening or expect a wait and the bathroom scheme is interesting as you actually have to leave the restaurant and walk outside to the banyo.. Drinks and apps would be my best advice.. This is an Oak Bluffs keeper.

After spending $160+ on riding the ferry with our car to visit Martha's Vineyard for a day, we thought the $13.99 Chimichanga was a huge chuck of change we didn't have. However, Sharky's Cantina has the best deal on Chips & Dips. Freshly fried tortilla chips with pico de gallo salsa for only $2.99. It's a huge bag of chips + an ice cream cup full of salsa. Not the tiny sauce cup usually given by other standard establishment. It was very tasty and we took the chips and salsa onto the green lawn by Ocean Avenue. Great picnic. We did also get a pulled chicken burrito for $9.99. It's a bit more expensive than ones sold in Boston but it was densely packed and weighed about a pound, definitely "sharing sized". That's our $ lunch at the Vineyard. Love the decor!

Seriously, eat here. Stop reading. Eat here. Drink here. The food is absolutely spot on, fresh, vibrant, and lively; keeping well in the spirit of the establishment itself, which was loud, fun, and comfortable. I've sniffed out the few other salsa-slingers on the island, and nothing compares. Drinks had a leg up over other local bars and were reasonably priced. I promise you, if you duck in here on a rainy Wednesday afternoon, you'll have an absolute ball and a fabulous meal.

Came here during weekday lunch. Steak burrito plate for 12$. Service was friendly, burrito was good. Came with tortilla chips. Some of the menu looks pricey, but Sharky's burrito is only $12 and pretty good, pretty authentic to what I'm used to eating as far as Mexican burritos in Los Angeles. I liked it.

Reasonable prices, consistent menu, good cantina food. They serve dinner until 1159 pm - always fun, always friendly service, and yummy foos!

This is the first time I have lunched at Sharkey's in Oak Bluff and the second time at any Sharkey's (went in 2012 to the E'Town location). It's a cute spot with an extensive Tex Mex menu. The bar is chock full of varieties of Tequila. Our server, a student at Wake Forest was great. I am eating clean so enjoyed a grilled chicken taco salad. It was fresh and delicious. My friend was not eating clean and loved his Buffalo tenders. We had water as it was a working lunch.

    (4)
  • Elba V.

This place wasn't all that. Our Bartender was awesome! Down to earth and has a great sense of humor which I love! My Margarita was delicious, freshly squeezed Lime Juice. My cousin didn't enjoy her Piña Colada because it was a bit watered down. The lighting was dark. I'm sure they can spruce up the place with minor improvements.

  • Richard H.

Friendly service... good atmosphere. The nachos are huge, the small order is good for two people to share as dinner or more as an app. The fish tacos were good but not great. Missed some sauce on them.

Stopped here while on vacation. Food was great - homemade chips and guacamole in the nachos.

  • Ashley A.

Love, love, love Sharky's. We looked forward to the El Scorpion bowl all year after going last year while on the island. It is sweet and not so strong you can't enjoy it. Also, the food is amazing. Try the the killa salsa with chips. Surprisingly, they make the worlds best hot wings. I could literally only have three from the spice that comes after the mango sweetness. Burritos here are out of this world. The brownie sundae for dessert is a great late nigh snack as well.

The owner, JB, is an amazing guy who is very active on social media, very responsive to comments, and a huge sports fan, resulting in lots of food specials for Patriots game days and Red Sox World Series nights. I'm really impressed with his community engagement and that gives me another reason to enjoy Sharky's.

  • Michael H.

We have eaten here a few times over the years when we are in town. We had margaritas, fajitas, and steak salad. It was all fantastic! Great taste, great service. The only real down side is that the two restrooms are in the next building and one of the two was out of order on a Saturday night. Thus, only four stars. The place is crowded and lively, as are most places in Oak Bluffs on a summer weekend evening. Also, like most good places in the Vinyard, prices are higher than on the mainland. We will be back next time we are in town.

Had a burrito and a margarita. Good food, and well a margarita on vacation is almost always good. Friendly staff. Casual. Fun.

After a long day of buses and sightseeing, Sharky's was our "port in a storm" and right downstairs from our rental in Oak Bluffs. The beer was cold, the tortilla soup was great and the nachos plentiful and tasty. There are many dining choices in this part of the island and most better than Sharky's but if you want a quick bite and something to drink - it's a good choice.

  • Heather W.

Best nachos I've ever had and I'm from Cali where I'm spoiled with good mexican food. Definitely add steak. The bartender was from texas and was amazing. She drew us a map of places to go on the island. Wish this place was closer to me!

  • Natalie B.

My family and I had lunch here while vacationing in Martha's Vineyard. It's very cute inside with shark and surfboard decorations and cute chalkboard menus. All of the food we had was absolutely delicious! I had fried tilapia tacos which were cooked to perfection - crispy and not soggy at all. I had a bit of my cousin's burger with cole slaw on top. I'm drooling right now just thinking about how juicy it was. My friend and I both got margaritas. I was excited that they had blood orange, but I was expecting it to be a bit stronger at $9 each. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive, and they even gave my 2 year old nephew a shark toy! Sharky's is pretty legit.

  • Mike M.

Good Drinks - Lousy Food It's a fun place, the staff is great and the drinks are good - just don't eat there. We had chicken wings. They are boneless little manufactured briquettes of chicken parts, cooked off-island by some global food-processing juggernaut and warmed over in Sharky's kitchen. The chicken flautas are/is, according to Sharky's, a shredded chicken burrito without the rice cut in half at a jaunty angle in some mis-guided attempt at style.

    (1)
  • Alee G.

I ordered the chicken mini tacos. The waiter said they came with rice. Well, if rice is cabbage then, it indeed came with rice. **Insert sarcastic facial expression here** The tacos were bleh. They had like 2 shreds on cheese on them and were packed with shredded chicken. It was too much. The flavor was decent though. The waiter was distracted and forgetful. The place itself was small and felt a bit crowded. It wasn't very welcoming. 1st impressions are everything. I would not return here.

  • Colin D.

This was quite possibly the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten in my life. As a cook, I know that food needs seasoning and their food had none. Not even a pinch of salt. The service and the drinks account for this one star grade. Our waitress was great and the drinks were good, but I cant blame her for the disgusting food. The grilled chicken for the fajitas tasted like boiled chicken that was then grilled. All it takes is a little effort and seasoning and sharkys had none of the above. Do yourself a favor and dont eat here.

One word for this place: Nachos. They say on their menu they are known for their nachos and layering them with all of that nacho goodness, Matt J. and I found ourselves in nacho heaven. Plus they are not shy with including guac on those warm awesome house made chips either. And any place that piles on the guac on top of warm melted cheese and jalapenos is a place for me. We also found ourselves here just for drinks once too. For some reason there aren't a ton of just sit at the bar hang out spots in Oak Bluffs, but Sharky's is there for that too. Their bar tenders are pretty nice, and one was even training the hostess on drinks while we were there which was interesting to watch. Plus they have an Obamarita in honor of the Obama's spending their time in Martha's Vineyard. It wasn't the tastiest of margaritas, not gonna lie, but it was the thought that counts ha

Lunch with good friends a 5 star no matter what! Then add to it Caroline working the floor and the bar and it's the best. I love walking into Sharky's and just feeling at home. I love when I order something kinda off the menu, they get it right. Consistency is always on the menu here and that's what I want when dining in a restaurant. Glad to see this place is still on the ball.

Best Chicken Burrittos and Margaritas I have ever had! Just wish the OB location had more dinner seating. Plus Cholula on every table. Heaven. My favorite mex/tex on the planet!

Overpriced tourist food, large portions that we took home, but decided to throw away. Had friendly service, great atmosphere, liked the TV's to watch the World Cup, Even though people raved about the nachos, $9 for a plate of heavy oiled chips, wasn't very appealing to me. $17 for their large burrito, something we could get in LA for $8.

  • Michael G.

Meh - I didn't expect to have authentic mexican food here, and you know what.. .it's not authentic mexican food. Wow. Shocker. As all food on MV, the food is a tad expensive, but Sharky's it satisfied my hunger with the large portions.. My burrito was huge and it made me happy that even though it was MV pricing that I was so full. Even though I only gave it three stars.... I'd still go back...

  • Charmie S.

What a mistake. I dragged my friends in here for a before dinner bite. Ugh. I'm embarrassed I suggested it. I let my love of ALL things Mexican seduce me into trying this sham of a restaurant. Service was wack. I observed ONE waiter serving the whole place during the 3:30/4 hour. What is that? Tacos my friends ordered looked sketchy. Particularly the pulled meat. Guac was good. Chips, not so much. My friend said the burger was fantastic, which was just curious!!! This is a MEXICAN restaurant with GREAT burgers? I will say, Sharky's makes some gooood french fries. Do I sense a pattern here? Good burgers, good fries... Go figure!

Atmosphere was dark and bar-like, but that's fine. It's very clean and the staff were great. Had the "small" version of nachos with all the toppings, and devoured it. It was as tall as it was wide. The "small" serving could easily serve four. I was with a friend and we had to force ourselves to get through half of the entree because we ate so much nachos. The nachos were covered in cheese, layer after layer. They definitely didn't skimp. I had the taco salad with shredded chicken, and as I mentioned above, I could barely eat half. It was a big serving, and they didn't skimp on chicken. There seemed to me a lot of melted cheese in there for a salad, but some might like that. The only downside was that I wanted to get their brownie (or cookie) sundae cooked in a skillet, but that was out of the question considering how much I ate prior. I will definitely be going back to get that monster of a desert!

The food was not good. I was a bit distracted while eating there. I had just received some particularly bad news and had to take a phone call while waiting to order. The waitress was clearly annoyed, which made me even more flustered. She musth have asked if I was ready to order 6 or 7 times, 4 of which were while I was on the phone... rude. I wouldn't usually take a call during a meal, but this was important. When I finally was ready to order, I ordered a chicken quesadilla. What a mistake. The chicken was disgusting and the cheese was bland. I also ordered a Pina Colada. She brought me my food before my drink, and I had to ask her twice where it was before I finally got it. It was excellent, but tainted a little by the poor quality of the service. Ambience was fun and islandy. If you're expecting real Mexican food, though, or anything remotely close, don't look on the vineyard.

Good Margs stale chips and bland Mexican food. Overpriced touristy Mexican fare that tastes less then fresh. Go in for a drink but have dinner elsewhere.

Easily rated as being the lame meal of our trip. Overpriced. Pushy server. Average meal and with the bathrooms being outside (akin to a used out house) I was really dissappointed with this meal. I paid the same money for a better meal at Nancy's with much better service and a great view. Avoid unless you are looking for the drunkie the clown meal.

I'll give it one and a half stars only b/c this location seems to be more consistant than the edgarburn location. That's not saying much though since the food is barely edible here IMO. The place is also tiny and loud and they don't even have a bathroom. You actually have to go outside, walk down a side alleyway and into another building, WTF. There always seems to be a number of people I'd rather not dine with here as well every time I've been to this location. The bar stools are very uncomfortable and the restaurant is way overpriced for what you get. I'm done with both sharky's locations. At this point there's basically nowhere to eat in oak bluffs

  • Bo D.

Skip it. Looked and tasted like they brought frozen Mexican food over to Martha's Vineyard and it ended up on my plate. One dish served to us was not even hot. I should have taken Bean-o prior to the meal to prevent my current suffering. Food was greasy, unimaginative, and not tasty. Waitress and drink were good but did not compensate for the food or the toilets which were located in an outbuilding!

this place really suck and slow!!!! they re use their nacho and everything else. We came over w/a group of people and never again will i try this place. it isn't really mexican, more like a low class taco bell lol

My family and I discovered Sharky's a couple of years ago and it was a very pleasant surprise. Kind of small, but a fun atmosphere. Kids even receive a little toy shark upon being seated! Basic Tex-Mex fare, straightforward and tasty. Huge list of margaritas, good beer selection. And kids' meals can be ordered on a souvenir Frisbee. My only complaint? You have to exit the restaurant to use the bathroom across the way at the Sharky's Gift Shop. Not a huge deal, and it is very close, but still. But it wouldn't keep me from going!

A-hole staff, small bar, super noisy, don't bother. I went in there a few times and it was always the same. The Sharky's in Edgartown however is da bomb! It's big and roomy and is always packed with the Edgartown hotties and Harborview Hotel girls. Big bar. Fast service! Awesome tequila sampler. Thanks for reading and have a nice day.

Ok so two four star reviews in one day! WOW. My wife and I had fun on this weekend trip to the Vineyard and made some discoveries that made up smile and want more. Sharkies is a small cantina serving Mexican style food and drink and they do that right. For thos of you local to the South Shore it puts Sam Diegos six feet deep. Go here for dinner and great Mexican food or do what we did and stop in for a couple margarita, salsa and chips pre dinner. The margaritas were great, tasty tequila and no measured pours here. The fruit purees used are made fresh daily there and that great taste comes through. The ginger and mango varieties and my two top choices. When it comes to Mexican food my wifey and I like it HOT. They had a new salsa they make advertised as HOT HOT HOT peach, mango and habenero salsa so of course we ordered that with gauc and chips. Now imagine taking your taste buds and injecting each with adrenaline...this is what you get when you eat this awesome salsa. The fruit is obviously fresh and super sweet and the habanero comes in the back door and kicks your mouth in the sweet spot and lingers around just long enough. It is the best salsa I have ever had and I have tried many. Now the gauc is no second fiddle it too is great. My wife has tried more homemade gaucs than I and she stated it was by far the best she had ever had and I cant disagree. Really this is the spot to go pre-dinner and get the buzz going and taste buds rocking. We will return.

Man o man. I stopped in Sharkys every night over this past Memorial day weekend and had the best time. They installed a huge flat screen tv and we watched the Celtics and Lakers games, ate some great food and hung out at the corner window seats talking to the ladies. How can you beat that! Sharky is small but based on this past week it's hands down the best place on Circuit Ave to catch the game and grab some good food. They got my vote!

My first east coast Mexican, so I didn't expect much. Well, tbe spicy pork tacos were excellent. I also tasted the braised beef burrito bowl. A-1! Just enough touch of pineapple. The decor was fun-the bartender/waitperson had a great sense of humor as well. I'll be back many times.

While I didn't get to try the food while stopping in for drinks the atomosphere of the restaurant was a lot of fun, I however did not care for the watermelon margerita but that could just have been me, I think it was the only drink made from real fruit and it just wasn't sweet enough for me, other than that though the staff was great, a lot of fun and definitely a place to check out while in Martha's.

Date of visit: Multiple Meals: Lunch, late night snack/drinks I fought my wife on going to this place as it was Mexican food first off (not very "MV" like) and looked a little hokey. I stand corrected in my original statement. It IS Mexican food, but damned good Mexican food. And it's a bit hokey, but the service and atmosphere is excellent. We originally went for lunch and just wanted some chips and salsa to snack on and have a few drinks to tide us over for something else...well the chips and salsa were great! And the Guaca is fantastic! We even ordered their super hot mango salsa and it was excellent. We decided to stay for lunch and I'm glad we did. I had the chicken enchiladas and the wife at the Chicken Fajitas. The enchiladas were great, STUFFED with fresh chicken and not over dozed with cheese or sauce at all. The refried beans were smooth and creamy. The rice was a bit el dente but I was ok with it. Her fajitas were sizzling when delivered and covered in fresh peppers and onions. Accompanies by all the fresh fixings you're used to but their own recipes on them I'm sure. Very tasty all around. She had vodka/sodas during her meal and I had Tecante beers (multiple multiple). We sat at the bar which we thought was going to suck because it was so busy in there but the bartender, Tatyana, was awesome. She was a machine...so much so that one customer ordered the buffalo wings for an app and wanted celery but they didn't have any. She then proceeds to get everyone's drinks all caught up and runs across the street to the grocery store to get celery...amazing. Who does that these days? We liked this place so much we went for the chips and salsa and late night margaritas another night and lunch one more time while on the island. The 2nd time I had the buffalo wings...awesome! Get them for sure if you like BW's....crispy, tangy, spicey...sooo good. Highly recommended and we'll go back for sure whenever on MV.

This place has great stereotypical mexican food. Their seafood quesadilla is out of this world. Their chips are always warm and the salsa delicious. The main draw here is their bar. Margaritas are excellent especially blueberry they also have a $2.00 Corona night.

Came to Martha's Vineyard for a little trip with my boyfriend and his friends. We were hungry and wanted to grab something quick so we went here. The atmosphere is really cute, a lot of older people playing their little Questionnaire game. I feel like it is more of a hometown restaurant, less of a tourist's. We ordered wings and ribs. Was slightly disappointed because it was not the great. Nothing much to say about this place. P.S I tried riding a moped with my boyfriend in the back, at first I almost hit a car, then I drove into a construction workers area, hitting a guy in the leg. I'm so sorry if you're reading this!

Dropped by Sharky's for some drinks and wings while on Martha's...they make some great mojitos with a stick of sugar cane, and Obamaritas(: It's a bit pricey for drinks, but I feel like that's pretty standard for everything on Martha's Vineyard. Nice, casual vibe and a good place to drop by with friends.

This is my favorite restaurant on the vineyard! Every time I get to the island I always have to make sure to come here to eat. It is so good. Best Mexican food I have had around New England. I always get the tacos, it tastes so fresh and so flavorful. The drinks are so tropical and tasty and the ambience is so fun. Also I have never gotten food so fast after ordering before. It literally came within 3-5 minutes of ordering! Seriously this is one of my favorite restaurants of all time.

A group of us has being going to MV for the past five summers. We stumbled into Sharkys the first time we went to MV and continue to stumble our way back into Sharkey's. We usually have dinner here once and get drinks here once during our week on the island. In years past the place has always been packed, so getting there early and putting your name in for a table is always a good idea. The drinks and beers are very reasonably priced and they have a nice selection of beers. They serve pitchers of margarita and while this is a good deal, I'm not a huge fan. The food is pretty good, staff is friendly, and they have a few huge tv's for watching some baseball. I definitely recommend the burritos and chimichangas. They are big enough to fill up on and then take the other half for lunch to the beach the next day. Check out the souvenir shop, where they have cool t-shirts with new designs and style each year. Sharky's also has a kick ass and cheap late night menu.

Pros: Friendly staff, fun ambience, good location. Cons: Really pretty gross. Sharky's is inauthentic Mexican food at its very worst. The decor is exactly what you'd expect - a busy collection of shark signs and beach paraphernalia. Wait staff were friendly, and we were seated fairly quickly for a busy night. The food took quite a while to arrive, and we had a chance to ponder the impressive collection of drinks - including the Watermelon Margarita. We were dismayed by the salsa and chips (which we should have taken as a warning). They were not complimentary, as is usually the case, and the pico de gallo salsa consisted of bland unripe chopped tomatoes and was utterly without flavor. The chips were room temperature, thick, and tasteless. The guacamole was equally distressing and tasted like it was made from over-ripe avocados. The entrees were similarly disheartening. Tacos were served on a plastic tray, on a bed of cold shredded cabbage (the most palatable part of the meal.) The refried beans were a tasteless fluid. Which is what I wish the enchilada sauce had been. The enchiladas themselves were languishing somewhere in the bottom of a deep puddle of dark brown sauce which tasted strong, bitter and was vaguely reminiscent of barbecue sauce. The chili relleno is a monstrous deep fried mountain of sadly abused poblano peppers. Everything was kind of icky, tasteless, and nothing like real Mexican food. For prices this expensive ($14.95 for an entree), the food really should be better. Maybe it's not so bad if you're just drinking. I will never know.

Funny thing about this place is that in the summer it's on the main drag in OB and in the off-season it's one of the only places open. They could serve PB and J's and they would do business. I've been in either case so I will have to judge as though it lived in a vacuum. It is very good for nachos, tacos, wings, and margaritas. In fact, the tequila selection is terrific. It isn't a culinary dream but recommended for a quick bite, beer, or cocktail. Get a margarita and some nachos catch up on a game while your old lady is shopping for souvenirs and stuff you don't need. And, don't have too many because chances are you'll have to stop off at the fudgery with someone in your excursion party and Sharky's isn't s good prelude. But, I suppose it's expected in my fam.

Let me just start this off by saying AMAZING. I don't care how pseudo-Mexican this place is, I am THE fish taco slut, and their FISH TACOS were out of this world. What I say goes, children! I stumbled upon Sharky's on a senior week graduation event. A few friends and I went to Anderson's Bike Rentals (great guy and great service, fyi!) to rent some bikes obviously. 4 hours later, dazed and confused, we sat our swollen bicycle riding tushes down to a great meal and ice cold beers. I'm not sure if it was the sheer exhaustion or if it was my discerning palate telling me -- either way that was the best and most gratifying meal I've ever had in my 21+ years of existence. I would be willing to take a trip all the way back to Martha's AND go through 4 hours of butt pains just to eat those tacos again.

My absolute favorite here is the Tijuana Wings! I would come to MV just to eat this, seriously. It's definitely a place where I have to stop by everytime I come here just so I can have that. I wish the place was a bit bigger because it can get crowded, but everytime I went I never had to wait for a table.

Not terrible, but not good either. House margarita was way too sweet. Rice and beans were dry, and the chips were on the stale side. Guacamole was pretty good, however. Service was good; food came very quickly.

On a hot, humid summer day, this is the place to come to for WATERMELON MARGARITAS!!! MMMMMMMMMM!! The food is ok,it's teeny inside, prices are steep, and the wait staff is attentive, but I wouldn't call this "authentic" Mexican food. I'm sure that their other drinks are just as good as the watermelon Margaritas, but I couldn't bring myself into ordering anything else but the watermelony goodness! I'll be back when I'm back on the vineyard!

Since it is 1 of the 2 (the other one is closed during non-season) Mexican restaurants, it gets 2 stars. We had gaucomole, salsa, and chips (decent, needed more spice), cheese enchiladas (needed more flavor), pina colada (definitely didn't like it), and a margarita (pretty good). The prices are reasonable, it looks cool inside, but it's no other than a Mex joint that tries to do the job. No where near good Mexican....

The taco Salad my daughter got wasn't what she was expecting- it was just ok. Their chowder ( on our tour of chowder spots around the island) was good- and for a Mexican place, too!! The quesadillas that I had were excellent! I def recommend them! Best guacamole around!! Worth a stop

This is our all time favorite Mexican restaurant ANYWHERE. The food is great and always fresh. For the Vineyard not bad prices either. Great for kids too kids meals come with a coloring book and toy shark. Full drink menu as well. The Edgartown location is larger w/ plenty of free parking. Oak Bluffs is much smaller with street parking. Highly recommend.

A standard, but appetizing, array of Tex-Mex including quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas, and burritos. Getting a table can be challenging during high season; it's a rather small space and the place is more of a bar than restaurant; thus, ambiance is not the draw, here. However, the food is good and its nice to have this as an option in OB/MV

Sharky's is just okay. The food is pretty mediocre, not bad, but not outstanding either. I tried the entree with three different enchiladas - pork, chicken and cheese. There was so much cheese on top that I really couldn't taste anything else, except for the red sauce they put on them, and that wasn't very good. I love cheese though so I ate it all up, but I could have melted some cheese on some corn tortillas at home and saved a bunch of money. They have a really good selection of margaritas, but the couple flavors that I tried weren't that great. I tried a frozen blackberry margarita and a plain margarita. They are served in 12 oz glasses that look like pints, cute ones that say "lime disease", but the drink itself was sort of icy and flavorless really. I would still go back to Sharky's though because I really liked the atmosphere and the service. It has neat shark-themed decorations and is very family friendly. They gave each of my kids a little toy plastic shark which kept them engaged the entire time we were waiting for our meal. Also, the servers were extremely nice and attentive, which is a very important characteristic for a place to have if you're dining out with kids. Maybe I just tried the wrong thing, will have to try something else next time.

This place must have paid for some of these reviews. Zero stars. Worst service on the island by far. Food is terrible overpriced Mexican.

this is where you go when you wanna have good drinks and fun on the vineyard. great fish tacos, wonderful burritos with very fresh ingredients. they serviced are dog lady out side on the rope with water. and let us sit next to her at a window seat. i like the drinking lifestyle there at night time. cool workers and like playing games on the wireless interactive device. so many places to eat on the vineyard and drink and party, but the vibe here is good for relaxing and drinking and meeting people too.

Don't go to Sharky's for authentic Mexican food. You won't find any. I like Chipotle better, and it's more reasonable. But you won't find a Chipotle on island, or any other Mexican place, as far as I am aware. So if you're craving a burrito and don't want to take the ferry....Sharky's. Sharky's is usually very loud and crowded. It is family friendly and casual. The food is good not great and the decorations are kitschy.

Honestly, Sharky's has some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had, at Vineyard prices. The queso dip is like velveeta sludge. That being said, their watermelon margaritas are awesome and the staff is always really, really, cool, no matter how crazy the crowd is. Some how I always end up there...

OK, actually, I kind of have to admit that I agree with Joe, and that this place almost doesn't deserve any stars, except that it is Martha's Vineyard, where one's taste generally goes straight out of the window if there is booze involved. You can't go to Sharkey's expecting to get Mexican food. Sure, it has names of cliche TexMex dishes on the menu, but that is pretty much where the similarity ends. The food is absolute crap, which is weird, because I know the guys who started the place have a fairly good idea of what food should taste like. I think that they just decided at some point that it was more important to them to sell a lot of drinks and throw around plastic sharks than to serve palatable food. So, three stars for the really very tasty mojito. No more because the mint was too gritty. The sodium levels are insane. Completely over the top, should be illegal, all we want you to do is order another drink, oversalted. For Pete's sake- they oversalt the tortilla chips! Mercy!

I would highly recommend this gem in the busy town of Aok Bluffs. The dishes are inventive and the food is scrumptious not to mention the service friendly and fast. The place is small, but the service makes it worthwhile and the menu boasts very tasty mexican dishes and a wide array of margarita flavors and concoctions. I would make this a must stop fr a quick bite for lunch or dinner. Plus they have locations in other areas around the island. I ordered the fish tacos and they were so good I wanted another! Believe me, they don't have great mexican in Boston, so I know this spot is very good!

My favorite restauraunt in Martha's Vineyard! The food was delicious and well prepared. The Obamo-Taco was delicious and the Obamarita looked delicious!

I absolutely love the food here, I go about two times everytime I visit the Vineyard but we have always had inattentive, rude waitstaff. We went in for just a quick drink and appetizer and after eating waited for our check for fifteen minutes before our waitress finally asked us how our food was.

it's hard to find really bad mexican food. at least, i've never really done it. how can you screw up tortillas, salsa, beans and cheese? still, it's also hard to do really special mexican food. sharky's, while good, was nothing special. good burritos (for the extra buck, i'd go with the sharky's super burrito which comes with guac, otherwise, be ready to lay out $4.95 for it), chimichangas and quesadillas. really cheesy. my steak burrito (also an extra buck) had a nice smokey chipotle flavor to it. the good news was, with 7 people (including a 3 year-old), on july 4th weekend, we were seated immediately. my niece was pleased with the kids menu and it seemed, from looking around the restaurant, she wasn't the only one. definitely a kid-friendly place as there were more sippy-cups than pints floating around. of course, we were there at 11:30 a.m., so probably a different scene at night. this seems to be a franchise as there was one in edgartown as well, though i did not go to that one. not a huge selection of beers, but this is a pretty small place with about 15 tables. all in all, pretty typical fare. i'd go back.

Any bar that serves food late night on MV gets a 5 star in my book!! I had a piping hot, gooey veggie quesadilla with my rum & coke and it was a GODSEND.

Very centrally located on Circuit ave in OB, a very good Mexican selection on a casual side. It is just unfortunate that the cheap young puppy crowd there sipping their drinks forever and discouraging the dinner guests to come in. overcrowded, and definitely noisy. But genuine down-to-earth spot,

Visited Sharkey's on several Sundays for dinner during the winter/spring, usually with a group of four to ten college students. It was almost always crowded, but we were seated within ten-fifteen minutes, and the waitresses always put tables together for us, or let us have the round table by the front window. Service, while sometimes hurried, was adequate, especially considering the crowd. Chips and salsa were always a great opener, and chips were replenished until the salsa was gone (with our group, it usually took four or five baskets full in as many minutes). Food was decent; the burritos and the taco salad are huge. Tacos varied in quality; sometimes they were very watery. Being poor college students we usually managed to spend less than $10 per person, although it would be easy to spend more than that. One of the better inexpensive restaurants that are actually open in the winter.

I live on MV part time and although Sharky's is to be applauded for their civic minded spirit and their pretty good margaritas, the food is abysmal. When it comes to Mexican, I am not fussy, but Sharky's should be ashamed to put some of the dishes they do on the table. Since I live here, I want Sharky's to be better, so I humbly offer a suggestion to the Sharky's team: To learn what a middle brow, decent Mexican restaurant should be, get off the island and go to LaPaloma in Quincy, MA. Don't be fooled by appearances, since they are located in a tiny "strip mall" place next to a Dunkin' Donuts & a take out joint. Inside, they are the real deal. Good food & drink, great specials, & plenty of it. FREE chips & homemade salsa too!!! (Sharky's you have some nerve charging anything for yours.) Send your cook staff to have dinner there and to learn what they should be doing in the kitchen. I know of at least 10 locals who have sworn off going to Sharky's. Admit it, no amount of cute text messages and two for one tacos can make up for your just plain lousy, tasteless food. It's always a disappointment to be overcharged for dinner out, but when you are overcharged and served dreck, it is just plain insulting.

Being from the West Coast and California we get really great Mexican food. However, with that said this place has a great atmosphere, lots of people, got the food to-go it was too long of a wait on a Wednesday night to get food. This place was packed. The Red Sox were on the TV and I am not sure if there were more people in the restaurant than in the bar watching the game. The food is more like Mex meets healthy.... So if you are looking for more re-fried with lard this is not the joint. I got the veggie tacos which were great... The family gets burritos which they love. Anyways, it is not your typical west coast Mex food but its a hit and great.... I do have 1 last comment the pico de gallo truly impressive....

Great location and great vibe. Circuit Ave has been needing a place like this! The tacos are fab and the nachos are the best Cape Cod has to offer. The menu is reasonably priced considering the location and the locals that hang out here are colorful. Have some tequila and try the guacamole!

overall i wasnt really THAT impressed. its a pretty typical mexican restaurant, overly decorated, lots of color the whole nine yards. the server i had was wearing a 'taco lover' shirt which i got a kick out of, but since i was with a 9 and a 8 yr old, i couldnt really laugh about it. i had the chix fajitas which were pretty good, but couldnt try the alcohol bc i was with the kids. food kinda took a while to come, and it wasnt incredibly busy. its a pretty small place, but im getting that thats the theme around here....other than that its not too bad, prices are probably the cheapest ive seen and it looks like sitting down at the bar and having a few margs wouldnt be so bad

Very bland food. Not a hint of spice in the watery salsa, and the beans seemed to be right out of a can. The servers were very friendly, but the food seems to be focused on catering to people who like their food entirely predictable and utterly forgettable.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
